It would seem that this level of poor service is all over the county.

For the past year I have had a running 'discussion' with the Huntingdonshire District Council about its bin collection operatives repeatedly smashing glass on their rounds and just walking away and leaving it to cause injuries/punctures/generally be a hazard to the public.

On two occasions, the council has utterly failed to come and attend to the smashed glass they left, even when they're alerted to what's happened and asked to attend urgently as a matter of safety. It seems their version of 'attending urgently' involves someone sending an email to someone else in the council dept, where it stays for days on end, but essentially nothing gets done, and the glass remains where it was smashed and left to injure someone or their animal or child.

Initially the council reported that their workers were told to leave whatever they drop or smash for the sweeper vans. The Health and Safety Executive has a different view on this.

I'm now at the point where I find I have to clear up after the bin collectors because they don't, even though the council does admit that the collectors should clear up if they drop or break things.

But they don't clear up at all, and I have filmed them doing [or not doing] this.
