POLICE are still trying to piece together the murder of a Huntingdon man and want your help to ensure his killer is brought to justice.

Duncan Tulloch, of Wolff Close, died in Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon on Monday, November 3 - nearly a month after he was beaten as he walked home.

The 51-year-old admitted himself to hospital on Wednesday, October 8, telling medical staff he had been assaulted at about 9pm. He received treatment and was discharged the following day.

However, Mr Tulloch was readmitted to hospital on Saturday, October 11 where his health deteriorated and he died.

It is still unclear how or why he was discharged from hospital.

A post mortem examination revealed he had died from severe internal injuries. Police have said it is very likely these injuries were caused by an assault and that the father of two may have been kicked by his assailants.

The assault was reported to police on Thursday, October 16, by Mr Tulloch's mother.

Last week, a murder investigation was launched to appeal for the public's help to try and establish where and when Mr Tulloch may have been assaulted.

However, since the launch of the investigation very few people have contacted the police and how Mr Tulloch received his injuries remains unclear.

On Monday (November 24) DI Nick Hunt said: "We have received very few calls from the public about this.

"Unfortunately, because Duncan didn't report the assault to police, we were unable to make enquiries at the time. I imagine Duncan never thought that his injuries would eventually lead to his death nearly a month later.

"It is vitally important that if there is anyone out there who knows something about how Duncan came to be so badly injured, they contact me.

"We know, from speaking to Duncan's friends and family, that he was a kind man.

"We now need the public to help us to help him. We need to find his killer and any snippet of information may just be what we need to take this investigation forward."

Detectives also need to discover the identity of the attacker or attackers and any possible motives.

DI Hunt said: "We know Duncan told friends and relatives he was not robbed, so we are lacking a motive for the attack.

"It is possible that he was assaulted by complete strangers or someone he knew."

He added: "The general public should not be concerned. As far as police can establish, this is an isolated incident."
