COLIN Holmes in his letter (December 21) is quite correct in that my father was station master of Somersham between 1956 and 1960 and not from 1942 as stated in the Hunts Post article. During my father's period at Somersham the booking clerks were, as I recall, Joe Grice and Mr Skeels, Billy Mason, porter, and Mr Edwards on the gates. Others I cannot recall as I worked at Histon, Cambridge parcels, March and King's Cross inquiries during this time. Somersham station was bought by Sir William McAlpine and re-erected on his estate at Fawley near Henley-on-Thames and can be seen (with steam engine) by prior arrangement.
