WE would like to thank the many schools, churches, business groups and individuals who produced shoe boxes for the Operation Christmas Child shoe box appeal last year. We would also like to thank the many volunteers who helped in any way, including with transport and collecting the boxes, plus the 84 people who helped to process the boxes at Huntingdon Methodist Church over a five-week period.
Our collection area comprises the entire PE postcode area which stretches from St Neots in the south up to Hunstanton and Skegness either side of the Wash. From this area 13,915 shoe boxes were collected and packed into shipping cartons.
They have been included in loads sent to needy children in Kyrgystan, India, Ukraine, Bosnia and Romania. For many of these children this will be the only present which they receive.
This wonderful result was achieved only because of the dedication and hard work of the team of volunteers involved with the operation.
