I HOPE to offer some reassurance to Brian Wallis (Letters, January 4) about the route of buses through St Ives when heading towards the guided busway at Meadow Lane.

Given the concerns of local residents and the town council, the county council agreed that buses would not travel through the centre of St Ives (Crown Street and Market Hill) unless the town council and district council were in support of the plans.

Buses making their way to the guideway will use the same routes as existing services. We look forward to working with the town and district council to ensure that the guided busway provides reliable and frequent services for local people.
