I WAS appalled to see that the vandals have been allowed to rip out the only bit of original historic roadway left in the town - Cow Lane, adjacent to the George Hotel, in Huntingdon.

Why has the council allowed yet one more bit of our heritage to be destroyed? Or is this, like so many other developments, considered to be one more "significant improvement" to our town?

If I had my way, the developers would be forced to restore this bit of history fully and be charged punitive damages, which could be used to preserve our town.

I note that now the council have their new offices under way, miraculously their old offices, which were beyond repair, are being consided for refurbishment - if only they can think of some use for it. How about council offices? The new development could then be transformed into a theatre or meeting hall for the benefit of the people of the town.
