A PLANNING application has been submitted for a poultry unit housing 500,000 chickens. They will produce 440 tons of manure each year which, according to the final paragraph of the planning application, will be stored and spread on Nook Farm, which lies upwind from the Stukeleys.
Large piles of chicken manure and the seepages from them would produce strong and unpleasant smells, as would the spreading of the manure on the fields.
The large buildings will be clearly visible from all those houses in the village that have a south view.
