WHEN the construction of Harrison Way in St Ives was nearing completion, I wrote to the Highways Authority suggesting that a slip road for buses arriving from what is now the A14, be made to allow entry into Station Road.
This would have avoided unnecessary congestion in the town.
Presumably on the grounds of expense and extra work, this was rejected and the unsubstantiated excuse offered was that such a slip road was too near the roundabout.
Now that this has been shown for the excuse it was, no doubt another one will have to be found for not allowing buses to take this obvious short cut into Station Road.
