AN INFORMAL space where children can develop their imagination through play could be built in Cambourne if planners give it the go-ahead.
The proposed play area will be located within Cambourne's Fen Greenway, a new pedestrian and cycle route running through a wetland area inspired by the Fenland character of Cambridgeshire.
A spokesman for lanscape architects Randall Thorp, which is working on the plans, said: "The play area will continue the theme of Fenland wetland with play equipment normally found in play areas. This provides a great opportunity for children to play creatively in an interesting environment."
It is intended that the play area will have an abandoned boat structure as its centrepiece on a raised area surrounded by logs and buried rocks.
The site is adjacent to New Hall Lane in Cambourne. The application has been made by McA Developments Ltd and will be funded by Cambourne Consortium.
