YOUR correspondent who ridiculed support for the Physio Direct service is clearly suffering from a lack of knowledge and an excess of prejudice.
What he may not be suffering from is a painful condition which could benefit from this excellent service. I cannot praise too highly the professionalism and caring attitude of the whole physiotherapy team when I needed their help.
A phone call to the department, when I had an acute attack of back pain, led to a response from a senior physiotherapist within the hour.
A 15-minute consultation on the phone, discussing the symptoms, was followed through the post next day by detailed advice and a programme of exercises to relieve the pain.
When fit to travel I attended the physiotherapy department over several weeks for further direct help.
My advice to your correspondent is to seek out the facts before passing judgment on what is, in my experience, a most valuable service.
