A 78-year-old woman was hit by a car in St Ives on Wednesday (March 26).

The accident happened at about midday at Cromwell Place by the junction with The Quadrant.

Police said the woman, who suffered serious injuries, was hit by a blue Renault van.

The woman, who lived in St Ives was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge where her condition was described as stable.

The van driver, a 36-year-old man from Somersham, was uninjured.

Pc Doug Howell said appealed for witnesses to the accident to get contact the police.
