A GENEROUS pensioner from Godmanchester refused birthday presents this year and instead asked for donations to be made to East Anglia Air Ambulance. Doris Potter, who lives in sheltered accommodation in Rectory Gardens, celebrated her 90th birthday on July 29 and requested that the \u00A390 given to her by friends and family be donated to the charity. Mrs Potter said: "There isn't anything you really need at 90, I've got everything I need." She did, however, enjoy a birthday party organised by her daughter Irene Oakey in the lounge of Rectory Gardens with her family and friends. A spokesman for the air ambulance said: "We are delighted that Mrs Potter has chosen to support our charity, we greatly appreciate her kind offer and wish her a wonderful birthday." INFORMATION: Since its foundation in 2000, the air ambulance has expanded to provide a year-round service covering Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. It is now the second busiest air ambulance in the country.
