PEDESTRIANS crossing St Neots river bridge will be restricted to one side or the other alternately during 16 weeks’ maintenance work that starts on Monday (July 23) and will cost Cambridgeshire County Council 190,000. Road traffic will not be affected.
The stone cladding on the bridge now needs replacing after it became worn and exposed the internal concrete structure. The bridge railings also require maintenance and repair, including repainting, the council said today.
The path on the park side of the bridge will be replaced with durable lignacite blocks, and limestone blocks will be used on the town side footway. The safety railings will be cleaned and re-painted to prevent corrosion.
The work will be carried out during daytime hours.
