MOTORISTS using the A14 faced a nightmare journey home after a broken down van and an overturned lorry blocked the carriageway.
At 2.50pm on Friday (September 11) one lane of the eastbound carriageway was closed after a transit van broke down between Spittals Interchange and Godmanchester. The road was clear at 4pm.
However, less than 15 minutes later police were altered to a lorry that had overturned on the eastbound carriageway, just past Brampton Hut. The vehicle blocked one lane and firefighters had to free the trapped driver. A spokesman for Cambridgeshire police said the driver had suffered slight injuries and was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon.
The eastbound carriageway of the road was closed from junction 21 and 22.
