WHEN reading the story (The Hunts Post, December 9) about the prudent measures Cambridgeshire County Council has in place to cover the range of possible final costs of building The Busway, I noticed that I had apparently 'conceded' that the running costs of the route would be more than £1million each year.

This was an interesting comment from Tim Phillips of CAST.IRON, as I have never said the cost of running the route would be £1million. Tim Phillips may have got a little confused here, but he has got this wrong and has wildly over-estimated the running costs.

The cost of running the route is paid for by the access charges bus companies pay for using it. This is not paid for by the taxpayer.
