TEAM EVENT: More than 8,000 has been raised at a charity golf day held on Friday.

The event was organised in memory of Lewis West, 17, from Ramsey who died in July last year when his car left St Mary's Road, Ramsey.

The all-day event at Lakeside Lodge in Pidley saw 82 golfers compete on the course and a charity auction held in the evening.

Among the prizes were a Liverpool Football Club shirt, signed by 18 members of the team, a shirt signed by Arsenal and England player Theo Walcot, a cricket bat signed by the England cricket team, and a football shirt signed by Pele.

Some of the money go to road safety charity Road Peace and the rest will be used by the Lewis West Memorial Trust to hold future charity events.

Lewis's parents, Sheena and Tim, were at the golf day, with his brothers, Taylor 16 and Alfie, 12.

Mr West told The Hunts Post: "I am overwhelmed by people's generosity. There was such good support for us.
