WHAT a load of old fossils we have on the Huntingdonshire District Council.

They want to preserve, or rather continue to let rot, an old boat house that no one can see anyway. The planned development [at the Falcon pub in St Neots] would mean a much-needed face-lift for the town, would create jobs and bring visitors and business to the area.

We have a lovely market town with river views and a beautiful church, so why do we want to spoil it with this crumbling ruin that will more than likely very soon become a safety issue?

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for preserving history, but this is taking things a bit too far and is, in my opinion, a matter of priority.

We have a gift-horse staring us in the mouth, so why don't we take advantage and enjoy the beneficial outcome.
