I WAS interested to read that there is to be an official opening ceremony on June 11 for the new Chinese Bridge at Godmanchester. I am sure this will be a splendid occasion, with no less than the chairman of the county council officially opening the bidge - no doubt in front of a good number of other civic dignitaries, representatives of the media and lots of enthusiastic local people.

I do have a concern that all these visitors might not have been warned that the very smart toilet block adjacent to the bridge has closed. With hundreds, perhaps even over a thousand, people attending the ceremony, I am worried that there is the potential at least for a major public health hazard.

In anticipation of any such problem, I should like to know whether the local council intend to re-open the toilet block, just for the one day. If not, they might like to consider erecting signs to guide any people-in-need towards the toilets at the bus station.
