A FENSTANTON woman arrested after her husband died from a shotgun wound will not face any criminal charges, Cambridgeshire police have confirmed. Officers said following a detailed forensic examination and investigation, the police were satisfied there was no criminal element in Simon Woodward's death. Mr Woodward, 42, died on January 3 at his family cottage in Swan Road, Fenstanton. His wife Karen, 37, was held for two days and questioned by police after being arrested in connection with the death. She was later released on police bail. However, it has been confirmed by Cambridgeshire police that Mrs Woodward will not face any further action and the matter will now be dealt with by the coroner. Mr Woodward, pictured, was killed by a single gunshot wound to his groin in a bedroom at the couple's home. Their two children were in the cottage at the time. More than 200 people attended a memorial service for Mr Woodward in Fenstanton on January 19. Mourners included colleagues from his work at Primex in London and fellow shooting syndicate members. His funeral was held on January 30 at Cambridge Crematorium. The coroner's office told The Hunts Post yesterday (Tuesday) that an inquest into Mr Woodward's death was likely to take place in May.
