TWO people from Huntingdonshire died in a head-on car crash in Bedford last week.

Anji Read, 33, of Kings Road, Eaton Socon, and her passenger Lee Joseph, 35, of Roman Way, Godmanchester, died on the A428 on Thursday (September 4).

The crash, which happened at around 8pm, involved a Honda S2000 driven by Ms Read and a Vauxhall Fontera.

Police believe the Honda, which was heading eastbound towards St Neots, crossed onto the westbound carriageway and collided head-on with the Vauxhall.

Both Ms Read and Mr Joseph were pronounced dead at the scene, while the female driver of the Vauxhall was taken to Bedford Hospital with a suspected fractured collar bone.

The crash happened just east of the A428 roundabout junction with Norse Road, in the north-east of Bedford.

An inquest into the deaths has been opened and adjourned, while a post mortem recorded multiple injuries as the cause of death of both people.
