AFTER 10 years at the Junction, this year's event is The Cambridge Barfly, starting in April with the final at Cambridge Corn Exchange on May 9. The Barfly heats are on April 10, April 17, April 24 and May 1.
The winning band will receive £500 cash, free recording studio time, a prime headline slot at the Barfly, a slot on this summer's Big Day Out in Cambridge, plus more prizes to be announced.
The deadline for entries is 5.30pm on Friday, February 15, and all entries should include a current CD of their best two or three songs, a photo and band biography. Entry forms can be found at www.cornex.co.uk .The lucky bands who make it into the heats will be announced on Friday, February 22.
The event started at the Cambridge Guildhall in 1985, moving to the Corn Exchange two years later. RICHARD PAUL
