HUNDREDS of new homes are set to be built in Cambridgeshire.

Land next to Papworth Hall, Papworth Everard, will be the site of a development consisting of 452 two, three, four and five bedroom houses.

Building work on the land, which was bought by Kings Oak, Milton Keynes, will start next year at a cost of £108million. The development will be called Summerfields.

Developers are also set to build 149 new homes on London Road in Godmanchester.

The £2.85million Saxon Grange will provide one and two bedroom apartments as well as two, three, four and five bedroom houses.

Another 82 homes are set to be built on land adjacent to Wigmore Farm in Godmanchester after planning permission was granted by Huntingdonshire's District Council development control panel on Monday night.

The scheme, which will be built by Persimmon Homes, will be located adjacent to Silver Street and provide two hectares of public space, which will include children's play areas and a balancing pond, which is needed in order to weaken the flow rate of the surface water runoff from a new development.
