James Davison, 14, a trumpet player, is this year's winner of the £500 bursary awarded annually to a young musician by the Huntingdon Male Voice Choir.

James, who is at St Ivo School in St Ives, has played the trumpet for the past five years and is also a pupil at the Royal College of Music in London, where he studies on Saturday mornings.

His father Gary is a trombone player and jazz musician.

The award, which each year goes to a promising musician at a secondary school in the Huntingdon area, was made at the Marriott Hotel in Huntingdon.
