A MAIN road in St Ives will be closed overnight this week for resurfacing.

Work to resurface the full width of the carriageway will be formed of two phases, the first between Elm Drive and Ramsey Road will start today (July 1) at 8pm.

The second phase of work, which will include repairing and resetting ironwork and relaying road markings, between the Slepe Meadow development in Garner Drive and Hill Rise, will take place later in the week.

The work, between 8pm and 2am, is expected to take six days. Houghton Road will be closed, but with access to premises in the area, and a diversion route along the A1123, A141, A14, A1096 and A1123 has been set up.

On July 15, works to widen and resurface the footpath on the south of Houghton Road, between Garner Drive and High Leys, will start and is expected to last three weeks. The road will not be closed.
