A play described as Beauty and the Beast meets Romeo and Juliet and Blackadder was performed by a Huntingdonshire secondary school. Kimbolton School's end-of-term performance was a new version of the classic tale of Cyrano de Bergerac. Set in 17th century France, the sold-out show was based on Derek Mahon's version performed three years ago at the National Theatre and involved 60 students. Matt Stringer, 18, played Cyrano and Sarah Dawkins, 16, was Roxanne. Other notable performers were Chris Burgess as Christian, the dull, inarticulate suitor, Ed Hodgson as the poet-baker Ragueneau, Alex de Bois as Debray and Max Constant as Nuisance. Steve Pollard, who directed the play said: "I've been especially pleased with the hard work and dedication that so many have shown in bringing this play to fruition.
