A TOWN lottery could be up and running in St Neots by next summer.
St Neots Town Council has been investigating the idea following a suggestion by the Mayor, Cllr Bob Eaton.
At the meeting of the full council last Wednesday, Cllr Eaton said: "I really think it could be viable and June or July 2008 could be a good launch date."
However, Cllr Barry Chapman said: "I was hoping it would be set up this year. Just before Christmas would be a good time for its launch."
A report into the project suggests it would cost £250 a week to operate and generate £1,500 for the town.
