A LORRY driver has been left with life threatening injuries after the vehicle he was driving left the A14, crashed into a ditch and burst into flames.
The Volvo articulated lorry was travelling on the eastbound carriageway just west of the junction of New Road, at Hemingford Abbots when the crash happened at 5.45pm on Thursday, August 28.
The lorry cab was completely destroyed in the collision and the driver, a 54-year-old man from in Grays, Essex suffered serious injuries and was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.
No other vehicles were involved.
The eastbound carriageway of the road was closed following the collision and was not fully reopened until 4.30am on Friday, August 29.
