TEMPORARY traffic lights are being used at the George Street junction of the Huntingdon ring road, on Sundays, while engineers replace a gas main.

Work is being carried out by Cambridgeshire County Council to construct the town's first bus lane on part of the ring road.

During the work, utility company National Grid will open a trench across the two-lane St John's Street/Walden Road/George Street junction to replace the gas main.

Temporary three-way traffic signals will be used on each remaining Sunday in March, resulting in delays for motorists.

Work will continue at the junction on Sunday and on Sunday, March 25, from 8am to 8pm.

Work on the bus lane, which has involved some off-peak lane closures on the ring road, is due to be finished by the end of June.
