Public transport was expensive, out of date and without any facilities for the public. People who are forced to use the buses as a means of transport are often the most vulnerable and a £2 single fare from Buckden to Huntingdon is an extortionate price.
Local transport chiefs could learn a lot from a trip to Madrid to see how a well-run, cheap transport system benefits not only the user but everyone.
