TODAY is your last chance to bid for a share of £15,000 that The Hunts Post has to give away to community groups.

The Hunts Post has teamed up with Cambridgeshire Community Foundation, which shares out government money in a scheme called Grassroots Grants.

The money can be used for a wide range of purposes including buying equipment for a village hall, new kit for a junior football team, or covering running costs, such as training for volunteers. It could be used for an annual outing, for the elderly, for example.

Grants are available for sums between £250 and £1,000. Ideally, the money should be spent by the end of March.

The group does not have to be a registered charity but it must be a not-for-profit organisation with an annual income of less than £20,000 over the past three years or since the group started. The group needs to have been in existence for at least one year.

It must be volunteer-led, run mainly by volunteers. The group cannot be a statutory body, such as a school or parish council.

All the groups that apply must be working for the community. They need to have a set of rules, if not a formal constitution.

To apply for a grant, applicants should supply the following information:

* The name of the group.

* Contact details, including a name and a daytime telephone number.

* Brief details about the group, including when it was set up and its purpose.

* The sum requested.

* What the money will be used for.

* A copy of the group's constitution or rules.

* A copy of the group's annual accounts.

Applications should be received by the end of today, Wednesday, February 4. The decisions will be published in The Hunts Post on Wednesday, February 11 and the awards will be made on Friday, February 20. Enter on-line at www.huntspost24.co.uk Usual Archant competition rules apply.
