THE European Landfill Directive requires us to send less of our rubbish to landfill.
Our British Government sets targets for Cambridgeshire to comply with this directive.
Huntingdonshire is meeting these targets, but each year the targets are tougher, so there is more to be done. Huntingdonshire citizens are recycling more than ever before - we should thank each and every one who makes this effort.
In Belgium, no rubbish at all is sent to landfill, so complete recycling is possible.
If we succeed, we will have more land available for other uses and clear environmental benefits.
