Huntingdon MP Jonathan Djanogly presented the 55,000-signature Hinchingbrooke petition to the House of Commons last Thursday. Shailesh Vara MP (North West Cambridgeshire, pictured seated beside him, said afterwards: "A petition of more than 55,000 signatures is a massive show of support for Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
"I presented a copy of the petition to Downing Street last Monday with Jonathan and now Parliament has been presented with a copy too.
"Given the huge number of people that have backed this petition, I hope the strategic health authority and the Department of Health sit up and take note of the views of local people.
"They should ensure that Hinchingbrooke Hospital is not closed nor suffers any cutbacks as part of the ongoing review.
