A 55-year-old man from the Huntingdon area has been arrested after sticking his fingers up at police, becoming abusive and then resisting arrest.

Officers were on patrol in Main Street, Hartford on Thursday (March 19) at 12.20pm when they noticed a man making rude gestures at them. They approached the man and he then became abusive and snatched a PAVA spray (a version of a pepper spray used to restrain unruly suspects) from one of the officers.

Police back-up was called and the man was arrested for a public order offence and on suspicion of intent to resist arrest.

He was taken to St Neots police station for questioning.
