A WHITEHALL decision to slash 6million from Cambridgeshire's Housing Growth Fund over the next couple of years means plans to build a new link road between Hinchingbrooke Park Road and Views Common in Huntingdon will be delayed.
The road would have provided much-needed infrastructure for development of the Hinchingbrooke Park area, but Huntingdonshire Regional College's relocation plans to the police playing field have been scuppered by a chaotic funding dbcle at the Learning and Skills Council, meaning an offer of 40million has been withdrawn.
The delay is frustrating for HDC's plans and the road is now likely to go ahead as part of the Highways Agency's A14 upgrade, with a link to the de-trunked road after the viaduct is demolished in seven or eight years' time.
