A WOMAN from Woodwalton who was stopped by police after her car mounted the pavement was nearly three times the drink-drive limit.

Krishna Grounds, 49, of Church End, Woodwalton, was stopped on Ermine Street in Huntingdon at lunchtime on July 20.

Schherezade Haque, prosecuting, told the court that police stopped Grounds' car after it mounted the pavement, and that the officer could smell alcohol on her breath. After being taken to a police station, a breath test showed the level of alcohol in Grounds' breath to be 94 microgrammes per 100ml, when the legal limit is 35mcg/100ml.

Samantha Jewell, mitigating, said Grounds regretted her actions.

"She is a very successful career woman who has progressed very well in her field. She is remorseful in relation to what has happened," she said.

Grounds was disqualified from driving for 24 months, given a six-month community order to carry out 40 hours of unpaid work, and ordered to pay 60 costs.
