AN ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy who has been diagnosed with a brain tumour has been given the chance to realise some of his dreams thanks to the generous fundraising efforts of employees at the Luminus Group.
Staff at the Huntingdon based social landlord have raised more than £1,000 for Liam Pridmore - a sum that was personally matched by chief executive Chan Abraham.
The Peterborough youngster, who is a nephew of Luminus employee, Sue Cole, will be using the money to achieve some of his dreams, including a visit to see the sights of London, go to Italy and to have a Nintendo 3DS games console.
The fundraising at Brooke House started after Mr Abraham learned about Liam and invited all employees to help raise money.
Staff rose to the challenge without hesitation. They donated money, held a cake sale and raffle, raising £1,000 towards helping Liam. Mr Abraham donated an additional £1,000 and presented £2,000 to Liam at the Luminus Conference as well as a Nintendo 3DS.
Liam said that he really enjoyed being at Luminus, adding that his proudest moment was sitting in Mr Abraham's office chair and being group chief executive for 10 minutes!
Mr Abraham added: "It is wonderful to see the Luminus family respond with such warmth and enthusiasm to help Liam realise his dreams. It is a prime example of our 2020 Vision: The Road to Renewal which is about living for others and not for ourselves."
