The club has been organising its Safari walk for the past 31 years, and has raised more than £126,000. This years event, held on May 15, raised £9,950 with 120 walkers taking part 34 raising money for Help4Heroes and the remainder walking for their own charities. In total £4,300, including a £500 donation from Anglian Water, was raised for Help4Heroes and a cheque for this amount was presented by club president Jophn Saynor to Terry Downing, the areas volunteer co-ordinator for the charity. During the presentation evening at the Black Bull in Godmanchester as plaque was also presented to Mark and Rachel Burgess who, with the help of their family, raised £681.50 for H4H. The final presentation went to Cathy Ledsham and Christine Grice from the Upside Down Sports Club for the highest sponsorship raised by a group £1,048. They received a shield in recognition of their efforts. INFORMATION: The Lions fundraising continues with on November 27 at the Huntingdon Christmas lights switch on when members will be collecting. Next year, on February 4, there will be a race night at the Wheatsheaf pub in Perry, and the next Safari walk is in the diary for Sunday, May 20.
