HOMES had to be evacuated after a car crashed into a house and broke gas pipes.
Firefighters were called to a property in London Road, Godmanchester at 10.30am on Sunday, September 28 after a white Renault Clio ploughed into the side of it.
Crews evacuated seven homes, due to fear of explosion and sealed off the gas pipes until the gas board arrived.
The female driver was uninjured.
A structural engineer was sent to the property but only minimum damage was said to have been caused.
Speaking to The Hunts Post on Monday morning (September 29) one of the occupants of a neighbouring house who wanted to remain anonymous, said: "We were evacuated for three hours and there were police and firemen everywhere. We still don't have any gas but have been told it will be back on later today.
