Signal problems near Huntingdon have dogged commuter journeys this morning (Thursday).
Rail passengers were hit by cancelled trains or delays of up to an hour as problems between Huntingdon and Peterborough caused havoc with trains.
The railway lines have all reopened but there are still residual delays. First Capital Connect services are expected to return to normal from 10am.
A Network Rail spokesman said: “We apologise to passengers who have been delayed by a fault in the Peterborough area this morning. A fault with the signalling panel meant that our staff were unable to safely signal trains at the start of service.
“This was fixed around 6.45am and we are working with operators to restore a normal service as quickly as possible.”
