Highways England has released a list of roadworks and road closures planned for the week ahead.
M11 junction 14 (Girton Interchange): essential embankment maintenance
Work to stabilise the northbound exit slip road embankment continues on October 1. There will be a 24/7 closure of the northbound junction 14 exit slip road to ensure the carriageway remains safe during the work. Traffic will be diverted via the Dry Drayton junction (A14 junction 30) onto the A14 southbound and back to the A14 eastbound via A14 junction 31. The works is expected to take two weeks to complete.
M11 and A14, Cambridgeshire: barrier and surface repairs
An ongoing programme of work to repair damaged safety barriers and repair sections of the road surface along the M11 and A14 in various locations continues this week. Working hours are 8pm to 6am, weeknights only. Single lane closures will be in place past the area being worked on.
M40 junctions 1 to 15: routine maintenance
Routine maintenance works include of slip roads and through junctions with two lanes. Works include sweeping, drainage cleaning, litter picking, vegetation cutting, white lining, street lighting maintenance, defect repair (including street lighting defects), inspection of the assets including structures and safety fence repair.
These works will continue until late November, over subsequent nights from 8pm, with planned re-opening times 7am on weeknights and 8am on weekends.
On October 1 there will be a closure on the North and southbound main carriageway from Junction 11 diverge point with exit slip to Junction 11 merge point with entry slip.
Northbound road user's will Leave M40 at Junction 11 northbound exit slip and travel around Junction 11 roundabout to re-join the M40 using Junction 11 northbound entry slip. Southbound road users will Leave M40 at Junction 11 southbound exit slip and travel around Junction 11 roundabout to re-join the M40 using Junction 11 southbound entry slip.
On Tuesday October 2 there will a closure on the Northbound Oxford Spur (A40) from M40 diverge point at Junction 8 to merge point of A418 entry slip road with A40, plus the northbound Exit slip to the A418.
Road users will continue to travel northbound along the M40 and leave at Junction 8A exit slip. Turn left along the A418 and follow A418 until it re-joins the A40 northbound
On Thursday 4 there will be a closure on the Southbound main carriageway from Junction 1A diverge point with exit slip to Junction 1A merge point with first entry slip
Road users will Leave the M40 at Junction 1A southbound exit slip and bear left to travel clockwise along the M25 and leave at Junction 17 exit slip. Travel right around the roundabout to re-join the M25 Anticlockwise. Leave the M25 at Junction 16 to travel southbound on the M40.
A1M Junction 14 – 17 Routine maintenance programme for October 2018
Routine maintenance works include white lining, road stud replacement, sweeping, gully cleansing, safety fence tensioning and repair, bulk lamp changes (Signs and Columns) crack sealing, loop Cutting .Vegetation clearance, kerbing and surfacing reconstruction
The works will commence on October 1 and continue until Mid-October, over subsequent nights from 8pm with planned re-opening times at 6am on weeknights only
On October 1 to October 2, there are works on the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon scheme with closures that affect the A1 (M) as follows:

Mon 01/10/2018 Northbound A14 - A1M Northbound closed (RIS lane closure on A14 Northbound and lane closure on A1 to 11/1)
Tues 02/10/2018 Northbound A14 - A1M Southbound closed
Tues 02/10/2018 Southbound A14 - A1M Northbound closed
During the closures, there will be clearly signed diversion routes.
On October 3, there will be a full closure of the southbound lane at Junction 15
Diversion Route: Road Users will exit A1M at Junction 15 onto B1043 Southbound, continue south to Alconbury Weald, traffic for A14 South diverted onto A14 Southbound Rusts Lane Entry Slip, traffic for A1 South directed towards Alconbury on the A1 Southbound Alconbury Entry slip road onto the A1
On October 5, there will be a northbound exit and entry Slip Road Closure at junction 15
Diversion Route: Exit Slip -Traffic diverted to leave motorway prior to Junction 15. A14 Northbound traffic to exit at Rusts Lane/Truck stop and follow B1043 North to Sawtry. A1 North traffic to exit at Alconbury Brooklands and follow B1043 to Brooklands
Entry Slip – Traffic diverted south to Sawtry Toll Bridge, turn left over the A1 (M), turn left again and follow B1043 northbound to A1 (M) Junction 16.
A1(M) junction 17, Stamford: safety improvements
Works will be carried out in stages to clear vegetation, repair the road, install sign posts, install traffic counter loops and refresh white lining and studs has started, and take place between 8pm and 6am for about a week.
From September 24 the northbound A1 between Wansford and Stamford will be closed all week including the weekend until Monday October 1 between 8pm and 6am on each night. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for drivers heading north via the A47 and A43 before re-joining the A1 at Stamford.
A southbound closure of lane two between Stamford and Wansford will be in place from September 24 until Monday October 1. A 40mph speed restriction will also be in place.
A1/A428 junction at Wyboston: bridge repairs
Work to repair the flyover at this junction continues this week. There will be single lanes over the flyover for the duration of the bridge repairs, and a series of closures as follows, from 9pm to 6am with signed diversions:
From October 1 to October 5 : The A1 southbound carriageway will be closed at this junction, with a short diversion around the junction.
On Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 October the A1 northbound carriageway will be closed here, the A1 northbound diversion is via the A428, A1198 and A14, the A428 slip road to the junction will also be closed with a short local diversion.
A11 Fiveways roundabout Mildenhall: road sign, traffic light, traffic sensing loops, speed enforcement hard standings installation and safety improvements
Work to install road signs, traffic lights, traffic sensing loops, hard standings for mobile speed enforcement and re-lining of the roundabout is underway. Overnight closures are currently in place on the A11 northbound, and the road will be closed from junction 38 at the A14 between 8pm and 6am on weeknights only until October 3. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via A14 and A134. From Thursday 4 October for approximately three weeks, lane closures will be in place on the Fiveways roundabout rings between 8pm and 6am on weeknights, with no total closures or diversions required.
A12 junctions 17 (Howe Green) to 15 (Margaretting): roadmarkings
Work to maintain road safety by refreshing white lining and reflective studs continues on the southbound A12 between junctions 17 and 15. A full road closure will be in place on October 1 between 9pm and 5am. A signed diversion will direct southbound traffic from junction 19 (Boreham Interchange) onto the A130, A1016 and A414, re-joining the A12 at junction 15.
A12 junction 25 to 19, Chelmsford: surface repairs and road marking renewals
Work to improve road user safety begins this week. The A12 southbound between junctions 25 and 19 will be closed Tuesday to Friday nights between 8.30pm and 6am. A signed diversion route will be in place via the A120, A131 and A130.
A12 and A120, Essex: safety barrier repairs
An ongoing programme of work to repair damaged safety barriers along the A12 and A120 in various locations continues this week, with working hours of 8pm to 6am, weeknights only. Single lane closures will be in place past the area being worked on.
A12 junction 28 to 27, Colchester: Motts Bridge refurbishment
Work to maintain road user safety continues this week. One lane of the junction 27 exit slip road will remain closed 24 hours a day.
A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire: major improvements
Construction work on the new A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon scheme is underway. We are currently carrying out a variety of tasks for which we need to close lanes or carriageways on the A1, A14 and some local roads at times, usually overnight between 8pm and 6am, unless otherwise stated. A clearly signed diversion route will always be in place for closures.
