A 27-year-old man has died after he was he struck by a train on the East Coast Main Line yesterday (Tuesday).
Officers from the British Transport Police (BTP), along with paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service, were called to Tempsford level crossing, close to Sandy station, Bedfordshire, at about 5.30pm to reports of a fatality of the tracks.
The incident caused severe delays for passengers with some reporting delays of up to 90 minutes, while other trains from London Kings Cross were cancelled.
A spokesman for BTP said: “The man's family have been informed. This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
During the rush hour commute Great Northern trains to Peterborough terminated at Biggleswade and trains towards London started from Arlesey.
The disruption continued till the end of service last night with journeys being delayed up to 60 minutes.
