Highways England has issued advice for drivers ahead of The American Air Show at IWM Duxford this weekend.

The agency is reminding motorists in Cambridgeshire that roads may be busier than usual on Saturday and Sunday due to the American Air Show at IWM Duxford.

Drivers should check conditions before setting out and not travel to the air show unless they have a ticket as they will not be available on the gate. The show is advance tickets only and they will only be available till midnight May 27. Anyone without a ticket should not attempt to travel to the event, as they will not be able to gain entry to the air show.

Highways England is working in partnership with IWM Duxford and local authorities to help get traffic to and from the event efficiently and safely and to keep traffic flowing. Anyone travelling through the area is, however, advised to allow extra time for their journey, or to plan an alternative route or time. If you are travelling to The American Air Show, follow the AA signs rather than your own sat nav.

Michael Perie, Highways England events planning manager for the East of England, said: "Although there won't be any road closures, we expect the M11 at junction 10 to be much busier than normal throughout the weekend. The American Air Show has attracted a large number of visitors to IWM Duxford and we strongly advise road users in the area to plan ahead and allow extra journey time in case of any delays. The air show is advance tickets only so if you don't have a ticket please do not travel the air show."
