ONE lane of the A14 was closed on Wednesday afternoon to allow for road repairs.

The Highways Agency said one lane of the two-lane A14 eastbound towards Cambridge, just before junction 31, would be closed while repairs were carried out and expected the lane to be out of use until Thursday morning.

“Initial investigations show the defect has been caused by changing soil conditions below the road itself,” said a spokesman. “The work to repair the road is expected to complete overnight, before tomorrow morning’s rush hour, but road users are advised to consider alternative routes if possible.

“The Highways Agency is working to reopen the lane as quickly as possible.”
