With intersection under the iron railway bridge in Ermine Street being shut for six weeks from February 1, many commuters journeys will be thrown into chaos. Here are some alternative routes you can take:

St Peter's Road

Those coming into Huntingdon off the A141 after Spittals roundabout, will need to take the second exit at the roundabout and continue on the A141 Spittals Way, passed Stukeley Meadows Industrial Estate before taking the second exit at the roundabout to continue along Spittals Way.

Drivers will then approach another roundabout and should take the third exit to the Tesco's roundabout in Kings Ripton Road, taking the third exit at the roundabout near Tower Fields Leisure Park before continuing onto St Peter's Road to turn left into Ermine Street.

Godmanchester

A possible alternative route for some drivers travelling eastbound on the A14, will require them to take the A14 to junction 24 for Royston/Papworth and take the third exit at the roundabout.

Drivers should then follow Cambridge Road into Godmanchester, take the second exit at the roundabout to Post Street and follow the road until reaching the ring road in Huntingdon.

Brampton

Those coming from the Keyston and Spaldwick direction may wish to exit the A14 at junction 22 for Huntingdon Racecourse and take the third exit at the roundabout off of the slip road.

Drivers can then take the second exit at the roundabout for the B1514 and continue along the road, passing the train station before turning left onto the ring round in Huntingdon.

Alternatively, drivers can use Buckden Road from the A1 Great North Road and continue through Brampton and onto the roundabout with Huntingdon Road. Take the second exit into Huntingdon Road and continue along the road, passing the train station before turning left onto the ring round in Huntingdon.

Rail

Trains are not affected by the work being carried out to strengthen the iron railway bridge.

Pedestrian

The road under the bridge will be closed to vehicles but pedestrians, cyclists and emergency service vehicles will still be able to continue under the bridge.

The Ermine Street junction will be blocked 24 hours a day from 5am on Monday, February 1, until Monday, March 14.
