The list covers all major works planned for roads across the East of England and runs from seven days from today (Monday) through to Sunday.M11 junction 14 (Girton Interchange): essential embankment maintenanceWork to stabilise the northbound exit slip road embankment begins on Monday 24 September. There will be a 24/7 closure of the northbound junction 14 exit slip road to ensure the carriageway remains safe during the works. Traffic will be diverted via the Dry Drayton junction (A14 junction 30) onto the A14 southbound and back to the A14 eastbound via A14 junction 31. The works are expected to take two weeks to complete. M11 and A14, Cambridgeshire: barrier and surface repairs An ongoing programme of work to repair damaged safety barriers and repair sections of the road surface along the M11 and A14 in various locations continues this week. Working hours are 8pm to 6am, weeknights only. Single lane closures will be in place past the area being worked on. M40 junctions 1 to 15: routine maintenanceRoutine maintenance works include of slip roads and through junctions with two lanes. Works include sweeping, drainage cleaning, litter picking, vegetation cutting, white lining, street lighting maintenance, defect repair (including street lighting defects), inspection of the assets including structures and safety fence repair.These works will continue until late November, over subsequent nights from 8pm, with planned re-opening times 7am on weeknights and 8am on weekends.On Monday, September 24, there will be a closure on the southbound exit slip at junction 1a from the diverge point with main carriageway to merge point on M25 clockwise and merge point on northbound exit slip. There will also be a closure on the southbound entry slip at junction 1a from the diverge point with M25 In both clockwise and anticlockwise positions. Exit slip traffic will continue to travel southbound along the M40 and leave at junction 1 exit slip. Turn right and right again to re-join the M40 northbound. Travel north and leave at junction 1a to join M25. M25 clockwise traffic will exit M25 early on northbound exit slip and travel north along the M40 and leave at junction 2. At the roundabout re-join the M40 southbound, then travel back to junction 1A. M25 anticlockwise traffic will exit M25 on northbound exit slip and travel north along the M40 and leave at junction 2. At the roundabout re-join the M40 southbound, then travel back to junction 1a. On Wednesday, September 26, there will be a closure on the northbound carriageway from junction 1 diverge point with exit slip to junction 1 merge point with entry slip, plus southbound carriageway from junction 1 diverge point with exit slip to junction 1 merge point with entry slip. Road users will leave A40 at junction 1 northbound and travel around Denham roundabout to join the M40 at junction 1. Leave M40 at junction 1 southbound and travel around Denham roundabout to join the A40 at junction 1 A1(M) junction 17, Stamford: safety improvementsWorks will be carried out in stages to clear vegetation, repair the road, install sign posts, install traffic counter loops and refresh white lining and studs has started, and take place between 8pm and 6am for about a week.From Monday, September 24, the northbound A1 between Wansford and Stamford will be closed all week including the weekend until Monday 1 October between 8pm and 6am on each night. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for drivers heading north via the A47 and A43 before re-joining the A1 at Stamford.A southbound closure of lane two between Stamford and Wansford will be in place from Monday, September 24, until Monday, October 1. A 40mph speed restriction will also be in place. A1/A428 junction at Wyboston: bridge repairsWork to repair the flyover at this junction continues this week. There will be single lanes over the flyover for the duration of the bridge repairs, and a series of closures as follows, from 9pm to 6am with signed diversions:From Monday to Thursday, September 27: The A1 northbound carriageway and A428 westbound entry slip will be closed at this junction. The A1 northbound diversion is via the A428, A1198 and A14. There is a short local diversion for the A428 entry slip closure. On Friday 28 September the A1 southbound carriageway will be closed at this junction with a short diversion around the junction. A1 at Southoe village: weather station installationWork commences here to install a weather station near Southoe village alongside the A1. From Monday 24 to Wednesday 26 September there will be a closure of the A1 northbound lane one from 9pm to 6am. Access to Southoe village will be maintained during this closure.On Thursday 27 September there will be a full carriageway closure of the A1 northbound from 9pm to 6am. Access to Southoe village will be via escort from marshals available at the junction throughout the closure.There will be a signed diversion via the A428, the A1198 and the A14.A11 Fiveways roundabout Mildenhall: road sign, traffic light, traffic sensing loops, speed enforcement hard standings installation and safety improvements Work to install road signs, traffic lights, traffic sensing loops, hard standings for mobile speed enforcement and re-lining of the roundabout is underway. Overnight closures started on Thursday 20 September for ten weeknights on the A11 northbound, and the road will be closed from junction 38 at the A14. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via A14 and A134.A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon: major improvementsConstruction work on the new A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon scheme is underway. We are currently carrying out a variety of tasks for which we need to close lanes or carriageways on the A1, A14 and some local roads at times, usually overnight between 8pm and 6am, unless otherwise stated.
