IN reply to P Sanger's comments regarding parking at Hinchingbrooke Country Park (Letters, March 31), I fully agree with some of the points made such as making the parking pay and display, but it is not only those from Hinchingbrooke Hospital causing parking problems.

Those using the park themselves need to be mindful of where they park. Recently the Sport Relief mile was held at the park, which as a charity event I fully support.

However, as a resident of Christie Drive the event caused considerable disruption to where I live, to the point where I couldn't even leave or enter my property due to inconsiderate country park users parking across the access and all the way along the residential area.

Before the inevitable 'the park was there before the houses were' reply comes, the area on which they are now located was agricultural land, so where did they park then?

My opinion is that if the park doesn't have the parking infrastructure to hold such an event then maybe they shouldn't hold them or put a system in place to protect the residents from the park users with no regard for those who live here.

The laying of the double yellow lines has been long overdue and made the area much safer by stopping those who constantly parked on the corner, parked across the drop kerb used by many parents with pushchairs, and those who double parked, which as a safety concern wouldn't allow access for a fire appliance.
