LONGSTANTON will be the key to constructing the guideway. Work will start early next year towards Cambridge, followed by the section towards St Ives.

At the heart of it will be a new factory producing pre-cast concrete sections for the route. Cement and aggregates will be brought in using the new Longstanton bypass.

Both parallel guideways will be simultaneously laid at the rate of 100 metres per day.

Because all but one of the bridges on the 25-km route had been constructed to allow for possible overhead electrification of the railway, there is already sufficient clearance for double-deck buses. The exception, at Over, will be demolished and re-built.
