GARDENERS, the arts and young people have benefited from grants totalling more than £10,000 from Huntingdon Town Council. A £1,500 award has been made to Huntingdon in Bloom. Performing arts in the town have been given £2,500 shared between youth drama clubs Spotlight Productions, the Huntingdon Youth Theatre and Performing Arts at the Commemoration Hall. Huntingdon Town Centre Partnership received £1,000 for Christmas Lights Switch On. Huntingdon Community Radio; the Huntingdon Volunteer Bureau; Relate and Disability Information Huntingdonshire shared £2,000. A grant of £2,000 went to Fusion, the young people's holiday scheme at Huntingdon Youth Centre and the Huntingdon Nursery School summer playscheme, which between them provide holiday activities for four-18 year olds. There was also support for young angler sessions at Hinchingbrooke Country Park and a trip to Ringsfield Falcon Camps which is being organised by the Oxmoor Residents Activities and Sports Association. Opportunities are being discussed to fund activities at Spring Common School, Coneygear Park and the playscheme at Hartford junior School. The council's grants sub committee, which has a budget of £13,000, had applications for funding totalling about £30,000 at its meeting last month.
