A GROUP of volunteers who have been helping to save lives of St Neots residents have been celebrating their fifth birthday.
The town's Magpas community first responder group was launched in 2002 and is made up of six first aiders. They respond to 999 calls, providing treatment to people who have chest pains or difficulty breathing.
Adrian Moore, one of the volunteers, said: "Being ready to mobilise at a moment's notice where time counts can sometimes be a challenge - especially in the middle of the night.
"However, the adrenaline soon kicks in and you're on your way thinking through just what you might be greeted with on arrival."
There are now 32 Magpas community first responder groups operating across Cambridgeshire, but further volunteers are always needed.
INFORMATION: Anyone interested in joining a group, should phone Magpas on 01480 371060 or visit www.magpas.org.uk
