IN the literature on Huntingdon on the town and district council websites, the area known as Portholme Water Meadow is advertised as a place of national interest and beauty. However, Portholme and the walk to access it from Mill Common Road are constantly littered with rubbish, graffiti and dog mess - not exactly the most inviting view for visitors and residents.
There is a great need for bins at the entrances from Huntingdon, Brampton and Godmanchester, to be used for the mess and picnic litter which is inevitably left on the road leading from the site.
Please can we see some pride taken in this green and pleasant area, Councillor James Fell has already addressed some of our concerns and we are very grateful, but more needs to be done.
PAT and HAROLD SEALE, Mill Common Lane, Huntingdon
